Probably the largest, and most rewarding, committee chair position, the program chairs are responsible for planning and execution of the big Mirrors fundraising event (in recent years it has been a charity ball benefitting the James Cancer Hospital). They need to work with their committee to find a location, decide on a theme, arrange for food and music, and provide the advertising chairs with the appropriate information. This position requires dedicated and responsible individuals who can handle the occasional stressful situation. The chairs are usually pretty occupied with the dance from the beginning of Autumn quarter until approximtaely the middle of Winter quarter. For more information contact Kate Hudson.232 or Allyn Checovich.1.
The fundraising chair is responsible for finding ways to get money for the group, whether it be through the organization of a car wash, a Schott clean-up, a promotion at a restaurant, or even through hall councils. In addition, the fundraising chair might decide to seek outside sponsorship from companies around Columbus. The goal is to completely pay for the main program through fundraising efforts so that all later profits might be directly donated. This position requires the chair to look for opportunities throughout the year and arrange for members to participate in them. For more information contact Stephanie Meyer.619 or Diane Haddad.81.
The Random Acts of Kindness Chair was created to reward the good that members do. The position is relatively relaxed, but work is done throughout the year. The chair for the class of 2005-06 bought small birthday presents to show members they were appreciated by the group. For more information contact Sara Kolhoff.3.
The selections chairs are responsible for creating an application and working with AOSCH during Spring quarter in recruiting a new class. In addition, the chairs arrange the interviews, create a grading rubric, and help decide what should be considered when selecting a new class. They also help with arranging tappings, especially by making sure all new members are aware of and present at the traditional 6:00 am "interview". Spring quarter is a particularly busy quarter for selections chairs. For more information contact Julie Stuart.60 or Courtney Banks.253.
The service chairs are responsible for working with whatever organization is chosen by this year's class. In years past, the James Cancer Hospital has been served. The service chairs meet with representatives and arrange for some sort of orientation and volunteering effort. In addition, the service chairs may buy decorations, games, or even gifts for the James. These purchases serve to help Mirrors members decorate the halls and interact with the patients. The responsibilities of the service chairs can start as early as Summer quarter and continue throughout the entire year. For more information contact Matt Stolz.11 or Nikki Cebulko.2.
The social chair organizes various social events throughout the year with Mirrors members. The activities can range anywhere from an afternoon of bowling, a trip to a baseball game, or even just a relaxing night with new friends. This position acts in a moderate capacity throughout the entire year. For more information contact Monali Pandya.28.
